Region I Mental Health and Substance Abuse Administration plans, coordinates and develops capacity to create a balanced network of mental health and substance abuse services for both children and adults in the Panhandle. Region I MH/SA Administration provides opportunities for training and support, monitors programs for best practices, and works to integrate multiple disciplines and services.

Region I Mental Health and Substance Abuse Administration was created by the Nebraska Comprehensive Community Mental Health Service Act. The Act mandates that effective and affordable behavior health care be available to all residents of each region. Region I consists of the following 11 Nebraska Panhandle counties: Banner, Box Butte, Cheyenne, Dawes, Deuel, Garden, Kimball, Morrill, Scotts Bluff, Sheridan, and Sioux.

The Region provides:

Management of a network of mental health and substance abuse services

Service coordination and wraparound services for children, adolescents, and families dealing with serious emotional disorders

Assurance that Panhandle residents have access to quality mental health, substance abuse and prevention services

Technical assistance and training for service providers
